People all over the world have myths and legends about lost civilisations that preceded us. Now many of those civilisations have disappeared. Local people don’t know the history of the cities and monuments around them.
The most famous lost civilisation is, of course, Atlantis, but every culture has that sort of story.
Many of the lost civilisations were credited with magical powers and advanced technologies (especially flight). The gods were blamed for the natural catastrophes that destroyed them.
But now we understand the power of earthquakes and tsunamis. We know how land can slip beneath the sea. we can now explain many things that once seemed impossible.
